History

    It all began in Alaska in the 1960's when Sid Bell, working as a Geologist for the Bureau of Mines created a hobby to fill the long winter arctic evenings. His creations began usingfundamental techniques and as he learned the metal properties, the authenticity of details were worked into the final artistic form. Thus he became known as the "Alaskan Silversmith." The carving talents of Sid Bell are what set these designs apart from any others.

    Sid Bell was a trained graduate Field Geologist and a hobby Taxidermist. He spent approximately 20+ years prospecting and living close to nature in the Alaskan and Canadian bush. This background enabled him to translate wildlife into miniature bas-relief carvings with authentic detail. He began carving in Juneau in the 1960's. The present inventory of wildlife designs are an extension of that early work, and their popularity with discerning sportsmen created the demand that led to the formation of two companies; Sid Bell Originals Inc. which made wildlife image products in precious metals, silver, gold and bronze, and Pilgrim Pewter, which specialized in pewter and bronze items.

    In 2008, Jeff Karner, from Bucks County Pennsylvania, who had been a long time customer of Sid Bell Originals Inc. purchased all of the original designs and rights of both known company names and it is now known as Sid Bell Originals LLC. There are two divisions within the company. Pilgrim Pewter for the Pewter products and Sid Bell Originals LLC, Wildlife Carvings in Precious Metals. Jeff Karner continues in the production of wildlife castings in their beautiful authentic detail in the finest of materials and stands behind all of the products, satisfaction guaranteed.
